Colorado Voting and Elections Language Assistance Hotline FAQs

Versión en Español

Q1. What is the Colorado Voting and Elections Language Assistance Hotline?

A1. The secretary of state has established a language assistant hotline to provide all Colorado voters age eighteen years or older with access to a qualified interpreter during all November elections beginning in 2022.

Q2. What is ballot interpretation?

A2. With the assistance of state or county election staff, a qualified interpreter will provide interpretation of ballot language via a 3-way phone call in the language the voter requests. Interpretations are limited to ballot language only and will not include explanations of or arguments for or against any candidate or ballot question.

Q3. Is there a fee to use the interpretation services?

A3. No. It’s free to all Colorado voters during every November election.

Q4. What languages do you provide ballot interpretation for?

A4. Interpretation of all spoken languages and American Sign Language (ASL) will be offered.

Q5. When is the hotline available?

A5. The language assistance hotline is available to voters for the 2026 Primary Election beginning June 22, 2026, through Election Day, June 30, 2026. Hotline hours:

  • Secretary of State and County Clerk business hours Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
  • Monday before election day and Election Day 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM.
  • Voter Service and Polling Center hours of operation. Find a polling location.

Q6. How do I access ballot interpretation services?

A6. You have three options, see below. Please have your ballot with you when you reach out for assistance:

  1. Call the Secretary of State’s office at 1-303-860-6970 for assistance.
  2. Visit a Voter Service and Polling Center (VSPC) in-person during business hours and election staff will assist you. Find a polling location by visiting www.GoVoteColorado.gov.
  3. Call your county election division.
